Top of the Pops – canceled! But there are also other reactions…

With their controversial single “Gott ist ein Popstar”, which rocked the boat in German media and lead to an exclusion of this year’s ECHO award, Oomph! entered no. 12 in the German single charts.

But this success didn’t impress the heads of TV and so Oomph’s! performance at the chart show Top of the Pops was canceled yesterday too.

But there are also other reactions: A pastor and commisioner for arts of the evangelic church in southern Germany is planing a project about the song at his next service. He wants to show the music video in his church to preach about it afterwards. Engaged teachers are also interested and ordered “Gott ist ein Popstar” as a foundation for their religious education classes.
