Upcoming Oomph! single, “Die Schlinge” feat. Apocalyptica, set for release on Friday, July 28^th, will be available in two versions. In addition to the standard 2-track, the limited-edition 5-track contains the single PLUS two 80’s cult classic covers stamped indelibly with Oomph’s own unmistakable sound: “Polizisten” (Extrabreit) and “Zauberstab” (ZSA ZSA) make up an irresistible one-two knockout punch! Big things are approaching on the German CD market: On August 18^th, our former record company, Virgin Records, is releasing a ‘Best Of…’ called "The Virgin Years" from our time on the label, featuring only songs (logically enough) from our three Virgin albums "Unrein", "Plastik" & "Ego". Sounds like an undertaking worthy of praise………if it wasn’t for our own plans with our current label, GUN Records!

Specifically, we’ll be releasing a complete-everything-plus-the-kitchen-sink fan packet fulfilling every conceivable fan wish and covering our whole career – right from the start up to now. Logistical reasons will keep us from being able to do this before Fall / Winter of this year, so you might want to be patient until then before spending your hard-earned cash somewhere else... ;-)

Behind the Scenes of the OOMPH! Tour

Following the incomparable OOMPH! Tour in Germany, Dero, Crap and Flux decided to go on and conquer Latvia’s capital city of Riga while they were at it! But the first visit to the band’s Eastern European fans didn’t go without a hitch here and there. At the flight layover in Copenhagen, the plane decided to leave 5 large pieces of freight behind (overloaded), which just happened to include the band’s backline and some of their luggage. The ‘lost luggage’ finally arrived well after midnight, and so the gig was finally able to get underway at, uhm…….. 3 a.m. But nobody was too tired to rock, including the 1,500 patient fans who sang along with virtually every word.

After this unforgettable experience, OOMPH! headed straight off to the Czech Republic for their next video shoot, and then off to play a festival in Tallinn, Estonia. In Finland then, “Die Schlinge”, was a focus of special singalong celebration mayhem, and on their way to the airport Dero, Crap and Flux heard “Gott Ist Ein Popstar” on the radio in the Frozen North for the first time and were immediately recognized at check-in. All of which adds up to a pretty wild time in the band’s recent past, but there’s more to come in the near future, because the next release is being cooked up even as we speak………

You can find out for yourselves soon enough, because it’s coming at the end of July. Till then, we’ll be adding pieces to the puzzle here at www.oomph.de. Fasten your seatbelts (and check your luggage!)……

OOMPH! – Week and Chat with Crap!

In honor of the OOMPH!-Days, there was a massive “Gott ist ein Popstar” party in February at Berlin’s K 17 club. The complete band was on hand for the festivities with Dero, Flux and Crap posing for pix and chatting with the fans. They additionally introduced the exclusive OOMPH! one-armed bandit, explained the rules and presented loads of prizes to the lucky winners. Along with resident DJ Demo and DJ Guenter, singer Dero also hit the turntables with his fave tunes and kept the dancefloor packed for the entire evening.

OOMPH! leg it down the red carpet!

Following the cancellation of a live performance of their current single, “Gott ist ein Popstar”, at this year’s ECHO awards show, OOMPH! gave their tickets to the event to a loyal fan on the band website. The winner of the spontaneous online drawing traveled last Sunday with two friends to the Estrel Convention Center to show their solidarity with the band: “Meeting Oomph! was extremely exciting for me, and seeing the show was very interesting”, according to overjoyed fan, Anke. You can read the whole report from her here. In “Gott ist ein Popstar” t-shirts, the three fans took the seats reserved for OOMPH! for the show, receiving the tickets from the band personally beforehand.

Singer Dero on the ECHO awards ceremony: “Before the show, we had to walk to the red carpet to meet the press, since we weren’t allowed to be chauffeured to that point by car. Later at the party, we met lots of fellow musicians who could only shake their heads about the cancellation of our scheduled live performance. That reinforces our opinion that none of us should allow ourselves to be muzzled by this new censoring standard”.

And OOMPH! are surely not muzzled, as there will be plenty to talk about with the new album, GlaubeLiebeTod (released date on March 24^th, 06).
